Credentialed Montessori Lead Teacher

Woodland Montessori School is seeking an experienced, nurturing and energetic Lead Montessori Credentialed Teacher for early childhood (ages 3-6) for the 2021-2022 School Year.
The Lead Teacher must be able to develop and maintain an authentic Montessori oriented environment and plan a high quality program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of his/her students’ classroom experience, as well as for partnerships with parents, professional and personal growth, support of Assistant Teachers and record keeping.
Our school has been established in its present location in the heart of Flathead Valley near Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park for over 40 years! Woodland Montessori School is the only school in Montana that is participating in the AMS Pathway of Continuous School Improvement. We offer year-round Montessori education plus before and after care and a summer program for children ages two through kindergarten. Our school consists of four fully equipped classrooms, including an extensive outdoor environment. We also host a Montessori teacher education program that is accredited by MACTE and affiliated with the American Montessori Society.

​Qualifications of Preferred Candidate:
  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • AMS/AMI/MACTE teaching credential
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience
  • Understanding of and commitment to Montessori philosophy as well as early childhood best practices
  • Confident in knowledge of Montessori materials and teaching fundamentals
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of each child and family
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Early Childhood Assistant Teacher
Woodland Montessori School is growing! We are seeking a Teacher’s Assistant! We have a part time position available immediately which could move to full time or stay part time.

​Montessori Education differs from conventional classrooms. Each early childhood classroom includes children from 3 – 6 years old. Children learn at their own pace using Montessori materials designed to appeal to all styles of learning.

A teacher's assistant is expected to model respectful and positive behavior, ensure safety, oversee activities of the children according to the specifications of the teacher, conscientiously supervise children during various times of day, and maintain an orderly and clean classroom.

Experience working with children is required. The successful candidate is someone who feels joy in working with children, has a positive attitude, is patient, flexible, organized, responsible, and is looking for a community of professional colleagues engaged in collaboration, personal development and mutual support.
An assistant will work directly with the children in one of our inviting Montessori classrooms with a credentialed teacher.

  • A positive attitude.
  • ​A willingness to help each child reach his/her potential!
  • AA degree in Early Childhood or Education is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with groups of young children is required.
  • Complete all state regulations for a Montana Child Care Provider.
  • You will need to pass an extensive background check.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop and care for children.
  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

​Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Woodland Montessori has a resident teacher education program, the Montana Montessori Teacher Education Institute (MMTEI). Upon successful completion of the program, adult learners earn an AMS Early Childhood credential (with a Bachelor's degree) or an AMS Associate Early Childhood Credential (with a minimum of a high school diploma).
